Hamm (Germany)

The Glass Elephant, located in the middle of Maximilianpark in the German city of Hamm, was the brainchild of architect Horst Rellecke. He was asked to redesign the old coal mine washery building in 1984 as part of the state garden show. In 2009, the building was upgraded with LED lighting which change colours from white, blue, green, yellow and red.The elephant has become such an attraction, there are plastic sculpture replicas all over the city.
